Miscarriage Recovery & Prevention Herbs

imagesFirstly, if you are reading this, I am very sorry that you are going through this emotional period. My heart goes out to you. Hopefully, this will be of some help. I have personally gone through one miscarriage. I have 2 beautiful children, a 2nd trimester termination to my 3rd pregnancy followed by a miscarriage in my 4th pregnancy at 6.5 weeks.

I was delighted to find out that I was pregnant in March 2013 after a sad episode to my 3rd pregnancy. However, at 6.5 weeks, I spotted. I headed to the hospital immediately and I was given a progesterone injection. Unfortunately, a week later, I miscarried. I was at the gynae to confirm the miscarriage and I told my gynae that I wanted a Natural Miscarriage. My pro-natural gynae supported my decision.

In a miscarriage, many women elect to get a D&C at the advice of their doctor, unaware that they can trust their body with Natural Miscarriage. A D&C is a medical procedure that is often performed after a miscarriage. The initials stand for ‘dilation and curettage.’ In a D&C, the opening to the uterus is dilated and the walls lining the uterus are scraped, in the case of a miscarriage it is for the purpose of removing any fetal and placental tissue left over from the pregnancy.

The fact is that D&C is not without risks, I opted for Natural Miscarriage as I did not want to put myself in any risk that would affect my fertility.

Some of the potential complications of D&C include:

  • Hemorrhage: heavy bleeding is a possibility if the uterine wall is punctured or scraped too hard by the curette.
  • Infection: anytime an instrument is inserted internally there is a chance of infection. Some infections are serious but most can be cleared up by taking antibiotics.
  • Perforated uterus: any instrument may snag or tear the uterus by accident during a D&C. Signs include pain and heavy bleeding.
  • Asherman syndrome: as a result of aggressive scraping or abnormal reaction to scraping, thick scarring on the uterine walls may form. Periods stop and the woman becomes infertile.
  • Irregular periods and/or difficulty conceiving: even slight uterine scarring can cause an irregular cycle and make it harder to get pregnant again.

To help a natural miscarriage and to recover from the miscarriage, I started on Christopher Female Reproductive Formula and Christopher Hormonal Changease as well as Red Raspberry Leaf Tea. I turned down my gynae’s prescribed antiobiotics, Augmentin and took Barlean’s Olive Leaf Extract throughout as olive leaf is known to be a natural antibiotic due to it’s antibacterial and antiviral as well as antifungal properties. Additionally, I also took the 28-Day Post-Natal Confinement Herbs for my ‘mini-confinement’.

The bleeding lasted 10 days and the natural miscarriage went well. I continued to take  Christopher Female Reproductive Formula and Christopher Hormonal Changease and Red Raspberry Leaf Tea well after I recovered from the miscarriage as the herbs prevent future miscarriage and are fertility herbs too.

My gyane encouraged me to try again after 2 menstrual cycles. The 2 cycles is to ascertain the ovulation pattern however I let a cycle passed and tried in my 2nd cycle. The good news is I got pregnant again in June 2013 after a miscarriage in April 2013.
